About the Organisation


          The Integrated Regional Office of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) is located at Chandigarh. It is one of the nineteen Regional Offices of the MoEF, the others being located at Lucknow, Bhopal, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Shillong, Chennai, Dehradun, Nagpur, Ranchi, Jaipur, Jammu, Raipur, Hyderabad, Vijayvada, Gandhinagar, Guhati, Kolkata and Shimla. It was established by the MoEF vide resolution No.17-3/85-PC dated May 12th, 1988. The jurisdiction of this Regional Office extends over the following States and Union Territories:



  1. Haryana

  2.  Punjab

  3. Jammu and Kashmir [only for
    implementation of Environment (Protection)
    Act, 1980]

Union Territories

  1.  Chandigarh (UT)

          Though the Regional Office was established in 1988, the land for construction of its own building could be procured from the Chandigarh UT Administration only during 1999. The construction work began in 2000 and was completed in February 2001. Some of the salient features of this Regional Office building are given below:
